Privacy policy

campping is an Australian campsite availability and alert service. You can search campsite availability, save favourites, add alerts to your watchlist, and choose whether matching availability notifications are sent by email, push, or SMS.

campping does not book campsites for you.

campping collects the information needed to operate accounts, alerts, notifications, security checks, and support.

This may include:

• Your email address, display name, account settings, authentication records, and session records.
• Campsites, campgrounds, dates, and filters you select for favourites, watchlist alerts, and notification history.
• Notification preferences, browser push subscription details, SMS number if you choose to add one, SMS verification records, and delivery records.
• IP address, browser and device information, request information, security-check results, analytics, logs, and error information.
• Information you send to any campping email address.

Feedback includes your message and any name or contact email you provide. Signed-in feedback is linked to your account. Coverage requests include the camp details you submit.

Providing an email lets campping contact you about that submission. Feedback and coverage requests are kept for up to 180 days; account deletion also removes signed-in feedback. Backup copies expire under the backup retention policy.

campping may store app preferences, session information, and cached app files in your browser so the app works properly.

Map services may receive browser requests needed to display map tiles and map layers.

campping uses personal information to:

• Create, authenticate, and secure your account.
• Save favourites, watchlist alerts, and notification settings.
• Check campsite availability.
• Send email, push, or SMS notifications you enable.
• Verify email addresses and SMS numbers.
• Manage delivery status and notification settings.
• Diagnose errors, maintain reliability, and prevent abuse.
• Reply to support requests.
• Comply with legal obligations.

campping may send account, security, verification, and service notices needed to operate your account. Campsite availability notifications are sent by the email, push, or SMS channels you choose for each alert. campping does not use email, SMS, or push notifications for marketing.

SMS notifications are optional and require a verified mobile number. You can turn off notification channels for an alert in the app settings or email [email protected] for help.

campping may send service notices about outages, maintenance, shutdowns, or material changes to the service.

campping uses third party service providers for hosting, database, authentication, email, SMS, push notifications, maps, security checks, logging, and support.

campping discloses only the information reasonably needed for those services.

campping does not sell personal information.

campping keeps personal information while your account is active or while it is needed to provide the service, maintain security, resolve issues, prevent abuse, or comply with legal obligations.

When your account is deleted, campping immediately removes the active account, authentication data, favourites, watchlist alerts, notification settings, and other user-owned records. This cannot be undone.

Analytics events may be retained after deletion, but their link to your account is removed. Some information may remain for a limited period in backups, logs, security records, delivery records, or support records where reasonably needed for security, legal compliance, dispute handling, backup integrity, or operational integrity.

campping uses reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.

You can permanently delete your account immediately from Account security in Settings. You must enter your account email and current password to confirm the deletion.

You can email [email protected] to request access to your personal information, correction of inaccurate information, or help with a privacy request.

campping may need to verify your identity before handling a request.
